Careers
The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH) planned a ‘road trip’ to bring a group of 12 university students, who are currently studying Medicine and Allied Health disciplines, to present health-related career and study information to interested SJRC and MacKillop College senior students.
The university students are members of BREAATHHE Rural Health Club, currently studying at Callaghan Campus of The University of Newcastle, Australia and volunteering because they want to pursue rural health careers.
Students attending were exposed to a variety of information sessions and practical hands-on activities along with access to an in-depth session for Year 12 who are keen for admission to Medical School and want input about UCAT and the admissions processes. Those attending took advantage of the opportunity to ask questions about accommodation and life at university.
Many thanks to MacKillop College Port Macquarie for hosting the event, to the volunteer students from The University of Newcastle and to Dr Ian Woodley for supporting the initiative and making the visit possible. #aHSC4opportunity #ruralhealth #uondrh #BREAATHHE
Congratulations to the SJRC senior students who took up this valuable opportunity. The level of your respectful interaction with the university students was exceptional.
