LIBRARY & LEARNING RESOURCE

Library_Collage_Website_page.jpgThe College Library provides an engaging environment that supports teaching and learning within the school. We encourage an interest in quality research with the aim of developing effective and independent learners.

The Library is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30am and throughout lunchtime allowing students to prepare for the day, catch up on reading or study and use facilities such as printers and computers.

Homework Hub operates Monday - Thursday from 3.15pm - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday offering an opportunity for students to complete homework or work on assessment tasks.

Food for Thought operates Monday - Thursday from 3:15pm – 4:30pm for senior students who wish to catch up on work/assessment tasks or complete study notes.

We subscribe to many digital resources including World Book Online, EBSCO, and others. Our print collection is complemented by our SORA eBook library, RB Digital magazines, and ClickView, along with access to the Sydney Morning Herald and the Port News.

We currently have a learning space offering nine computers, that are utilised to support classroom learning. We have developed a learning environment designed to support recreational and collaborative work. We provide support and work together with teaching staff to develop information literacy and ICT learning strategies that are incorporated into teaching and learning. We are focused on providing 24/7 access to quality online information available through our portal.

There are many displays throughout the library, featuring books on current course subject areas as well as the latest releases in novels. As support to our local community of learners and readers, students are encouraged to borrow from these selections.

The library runs various activities throughout the school term. We have a Page Turner’s Book Club that meets twice per term and all enthusiastic readers are invited along to share their thoughts about the latest book students are reading. We offer a variety of writing opportunities – such as writing competitions throughout the year and our Fan Fiction writing group. There are photo competitions throughout the year and on Fridays, the library has a large selection of puzzles for students to develop memory and problem-solving skills, and to have fun!
