Debating & Public Speaking
Students work together with a mentoring teacher to structure sound arguments in response to set issues. They learn about teamwork, and the nature of persuasion and are also given the opportunity to hone their public speaking skills. Students usually compete in a debating competition involving all the local schools.
Visual Arts
Lunchtime opportunities - students can gain art-making skills and self-confidence plus forge ahead with art-making projects, with further one-on-one time with their classroom teacher.
Creative Art
inspires creativity and imagination, teaches self-worth and pride, crosses economic cultural and social boundaries, increases confidence, creates school and community cohesion and brings inspiration and joy.
Sport
St Joseph's Regional College aims to provide opportunities for students to participate in organised team and individual sporting competitions within the school, locally and at Diocesan level. Students also participate in compulsory weekly sport. Year seven and eight - a set program of skill development and year nine and ten - elective sport. Our senior school students also have the opportunity to represent the school in the same sports as the junior school.
On a more informal basis students may enter teams in recess & lunchtime competitions. Some run as PC groups and others allow students to choose a team of their own. Sports: basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, soccer, touch football.
