Year 11 2018 Subject Selection Process – Important information for current Year 10 students
Current Year 10 students who intend to continue on to Year 11 at SJRC will soon be going through a process designed to assist them in choosing a pattern of study that is suitable for them, and which will take them through to the HSC and gain them an ATAR.

The main steps in this process are: Subject selection handbooks will be issued in Week 10 this term to students. The booklets contain information on the transition into Year 11, and NESA subject requirements regarding the award of

  1. Subject selection handbooks will be issued in Week 10 this term to students. The booklets contain information on the transition into Year 11, and NESA subject requirements regarding the award of a HSC and ATAR, as well as a summary of the content of each subject which may potentially be offered in 2018.
  2. Wednesday 26th July we will hold an Information Evening for potential 2018 Year 11 students and parents. This will be held in the College Hall and commence at 6.00pm sharp.
  3. Monday 31st July we will hold a Year 11 Subject Information Day for 2018 Year 11 students. This day is a wonderful opportunity for students to hear first-hand from teachers currently teaching Stage 6 courses about the actual content of various subjects available to them, as well as having the opportunity to ask any questions they may have. This day is one of the most useful steps in this process and I would urge students to make full use of it.
  4. Wednesday 2nd August we will hold interviews for 2018 Year 11 students and parents. These interviews are an opportunity for students and parents to discuss final decisions regarding patterns of study for Year 11, and to have any remaining questions answered.

Following this process, we will be making final decisions on subjects, numbers of classes, and the 2018 timetable structure. Should there be any issues with any particular patterns of study, we will work with students to resolve those issues.

Should you have any questions regarding this process, please do not hesitate to call me at the College.
